*Congratulations, Henry James. You broke me. I can no longer sit down to read 40-page essays dissecting the two pages of dialogue that came before. I no longer care about the Prince or Charlotte or Maggie or Adam Verver (and you better believe I had to look up their names on Wikipedia). I figured the whole affair plot would make this like Anna Karenina or Les Liaisons dangereuses, but instead it is just plain boring. I no longer can submit my brain cells to shrivel up while I slog through just...one...more...chapter, solely so I can save my pride and move on to another book. I'm done. UNINTERESTED. Maybe I'll come back another time, until then, you get an asterisk.
