After four years in college, when I
would be assigned whole 400-page novels to crank through in five days, I
was sad to get out into the real world and realize I had to figure out
for myself what I wanted to read. Although I have many favorites, I'm a
little hesitant when it comes to trying out new books (I like what I
like!), hence, the Two-Books-A-Day Project was born.
I
pick two books: one a classic, ALA-greatest, Norton-Anthology, TIME
top-100 type; the other YA. Classic gets read in the mornings and at
lunchtime, YA gets read at night. Plane rides/14-hour drives to Chicago
are toss-ups. They can only be books I've never read, and once I start
them, I have to finish them, even if I hate it (I'm looking at you, Portnoy's Complaint).
These
are the books I've read this year as part of the Two-Books-A-Day
Project (for my 2012 and 2011 lists, check the tabs above). This list doesn't
include anything I've read before that I've re-read and it doesn't count
the number of times I've re-read one of these books. I am always,
always looking for more books to read. If you have any suggestions,
either YA or classic, let me know!
